FF Scala Sans is a humanist typeface, developed as a companion to FF Scala, for the use on signage and posters. FF Scala Sans was designed by Martin Majoor, a Dutch designer and typeface maker, active since the late 1980s. FF Scala Sans is a companion to the first sanserif typeface FF Scala, designed in 1990.

FF Scala Sans was released in 1996, re-designed as a companion to the first sanserif typeface FF Scala Sans, designed by Majoor in 1995 for the Vredenburg Music Center in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Note: The above font families were designed as a combination of humanist and grotesque sans-serifs. From the serif side, we have the classic and richly diverse Scala family, and from the grotesque side, we have the no-frills modern grotesque that is, of course, not as classy as Scala, but rather more accessible and more useful.

Bodoni and Fantasque Sans, by Frederic Dejean. This pair of fonts, once owned by Dejean himself, is a high-end version of the popular Bodoni family. It is not only beautiful, but extremely legible, because of its well-integrated upright and slanted caps. Like their serif counterparts, it can also be used side-by-side with other fonts.
